Business Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging and Fleet Assessment Rebate

Many of your employees or tenants may own or be considering purchasing an electric vehicle (EV), or you may be looking to electrify your fleet. As an SRP business customer, you can join this rapidly growing market and save money by leveraging SRP's Business EV Charging and Fleet Assessment rebates.

Rebates are available on:

  • Level 2 Chargers (240/208 volts) - Receive $1,500 for each networked EV charging port you install at your business, or $4,000 per port for government, non-profit, multifamily and school customers.
  • DC Fast Chargers (480 volts) - Receive $15,000 for each networked DC Fast Charger port you install at your business, or $20,000 per port for government, non-profit, multifamily, and school customers.
  • Fleet Advisory Services (FAS) - Receive up to $20,000 for completing a study to convert your fleet to electric.

What's new for the SRP Business Solutions Program?

Electric Vehicle Charging (On-Road Electrification)

Summary of rebate changes:

  • Added DC Fast Charger to eligible measures. DC Fast charging equipment rated for a minimum of 50 kW per port with service at 480 volts is eligible for a $15,000 per port rebate for business customers and a $20,000 per port rebate for government, non-profit, school, and multifamily customers. Program is limited to three (3) ports per customer per year. Pre-approval is required.
  • Increased the number of Level 2 chargers per customer from 50 to 75.
  • Added additional Fleet Implementation Support to assist customers with the implementation of EV charging infrastructure. This incentive is limited to fleet customers for the current program year.

Electric Technologies (Off-Road Electrification)

Summary of rebate changes:

  • Added Forklifts Class 3 to eligible measures. Class 3 may be an addition to the fleet, a new application or replacing internal combustion forklifts. The rebate is $200/eligible Class 3 lift.
  • Added ride on Scrubbers and Sweepers to prescriptive measures. All battery powered, ridge on scrubbers and sweepers are eligible for a $450/eligible unit incentive.
  • Added Scissor/Boom Lifts to prescriptive measures. All battery powered lifts are eligible for a $750/eligible unit incentive

What can my business get rebates for?

$1,500 per networked Level 2 EV charging station port for businesses and $4,000 per port for government, non-profit and school customers

  • A typical Level 2 charging port delivers 208/240 volts of electricity to the car battery, similar to what a residential dryer or oven uses.
  • Each hour of charge time uses 4–19.2 kilowatts and will provide 8–20 miles of driving range.
  • The cost for a Level 2 EV charger ranges from $1,000 to $7,000.
  • Rebates are limited to 75 charging ports per customer per program year.

$15,000 per networked DC Fast charging station port for businesses and $20,000 per port for government, non-profit and school customers.

  • A typical DC Fast Charger delivers 480 volts of electricity to the car battery and is currently the fastest way to charge a vehicle.
  • Each hour of charge time uses 25–350 kilowatts and can charge a vehicle to 80% in 20-30 minutes.
  • The cost for a DC Fast charger ranges from $50,000 to $150,000 depending on the power level and electrical infrastructure requirements.
  • Rebates are limited to 3 DC Fast charging ports per customer per program year.

Requirements and Rebate Process

Hardware requirements

  • Commercial-grade Level 2 EV charging stations
  • An output current of at least 20 amps per port minimum at 208/240 volts
  • A charge connector compliant with SAE J1772
  • EVSE is UL listed
  • Must comply with local building codes

Software requirements

  • Charging stations equipped with software to control, operate, communicate, diagnose and capture data
  • Network services, provided by the supplier, that are capable of tracking usage, collecting data, billing customers and managing electrical loads
  • Software certified to receive an OpenADR 2.0b signal

Factors such as power requirements and siting considerations could impact your equipment and/or installation costs. Consult an SRP Trade Ally to evaluate installation locations and determine your electrical needs.

How do I get my rebate?

To be eligible for SRP's Business EV Charging Rebates, you must:

  • Be an SRP business electric customer with an account in good standing.
  • Meet all program and equipment requirements listed above.
  • Install equipment between May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023. Apply on or before July 31, 2023.

5 steps to receive your rebate:

  1. Purchase and install the new, eligible equipment. If you have questions, consult an SRP Trade Ally or contact us at (602) 236-3065.
  2. Create an SRP Rebate Center account to claim your rebate. You will need to have your SRP account number and associated email address.
  3. Follow the steps online to submit your rebate application. Include a dated copy of your sales receipt or invoice with the EV charger model number, purchase date and serial number with your application.
  4. Obtain SRP verification of installation.
  5. Upon approval, receive your rebate check!

Rebate funds for this program are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hardware requirements

  • Must be able to supply an output current of at least 50 kW per port minimum at 480 or higher volts.
  • Include a charge connector compliant with CCS, CHAdeMO or Tesla.
  • Compliant with NEC article 625.
  • Rated for outdoor usage, NEMA 3R or better and an operating temperature range of 0 to 122F.
  • Shall be network ready – able to communicate with a network management system (NMS) and use Open technical standards
  • ADA compliant

Software requirements

  • Software to control, operate, communicate, diagnose, and capture data.
  • The supplier shall provide network services capable of tracking usage, collecting data, billing customers, and managing electrical loads.
  • The EVSE software shall be certified to receive an OpenADR 2.0b signal.

How do I get my rebate?

To be eligible for SRP's Business DC Fast Charger Rebates, you must:

  • Be an SRP retail electric customer, taking service under any general service (non-residential) SRP Standard Electric Price Plan.
  • Submit a pre-approval or completed rebate application within the EV program fiscal year of May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023. You may apply as late as July 30, 2023 for installations completed within the fiscal year. If pre-approval is provided towards the end of the year or if the project timeframe exceeds the program year, the pre-approval may be honored the following program year subject to new program guidelines and budgets.
  • Be the SRP customer of Record or Account Holder of the SRP account at each proposed site of an EV charger port.
  • Have the legal right and authority to install the EV charger port(s) at the place(s) of business identified on the Rebate Application
  • Provide all valid invoices that show dates of payment for all EVSE claimed and/or invoices for the electrical infrastructure being installed.
  • Incentive is limited to three (3) ports per customer per program year.

6 steps to receive your DC Fast Charger rebate:

  1. Complete an online application to obtain a pre-approval so funds can be allocated for your project. You will need your SRP account number to complete the application. If you have questions, contact us at (602) 236-3065 or etechrebates@srpnet.com.
  2. Purchase and install and energize the new, eligible equipment.
  3. Complete your application at the SRP Rebate Center. You will need to have your SRP account number and associated email address you used to apply for pre-approval.
  4. Follow the steps online to submit your rebate application. Include a dated copy of your sales receipt or invoice with the EV charger model number, purchase date and serial number with your application.
  5. Obtain SRP verification of installation (if requested).
  6. Upon approval, receive your rebate check!

Rebate funds for this program are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligible customers who may participate by receiving an assessment or up to $20,000 towards an assessment must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an SRP retail electric customer, taking service under any general service (non-residential) SRP Standard Electric Price Plan.
  • Be the SRP Customer of Record or Account Holder of the SRP account at each proposed site of an electrification assessment.
  • Have the legal right and authority to install electric equipment or vehicles at the place(s) of business identified on the Rebate Application.
  • The number of vehicles in the study must meet minimum thresholds to participate. Currently, the funding levels includes the following:
    • Light Duty - 20 or more = Up to $14,000
    • Light Duty - 50 or more = Up to $20,000
    • Medium and Heavy Duty - 5 or more = Up to $14,000
    • Medium and Heavy Duty - 20 or more = Up to $20,000
    • Mixed Fleet - 10 or more = Up to $14,000
    • Mixed Fleet - 20 or more = Up to $20,000
  • Participate in an assessment that is pre-approved between May 1, 2022, and April 30, 2023, or subsequent program years if the program remains viable.
  • Following the completion of an assessment (approved by the Program), the customer has 18 months to claim the other 50% of the rebate by purchasing recommended electric equipment or vehicles from the approved study subject to program terms and funding.
  • Assessed equipment or vehicles must be in use in the SRP service area. Equipment shipped to other facilities outside the SRP service area do not qualify. The assessment may include vehicles or equipment outside the territory, but incentive eligibility will be based on equipment and vehicles in SRP territory only.
  • Provide all valid invoices that show dates of payment for all electric equipment or vehicles claimed. Purchases must be made following the final approval of the assessment.
  • Customers must provide valid serial numbers for all electric equipment or vehicles claimed.
  • Assessment must be completed by an SRP Electrification Qualified Service Provider (eQSP) or work with the program to gain certification for the program. Contact the Program for questions on how you or your vendor may provide the fleet assessment.

9 steps to receive your Fleet Assessment rebate:

  1. Determine who will complete the study. All vendors or customers that wish to complete the study with the minimum requirements will need to complete an application or use an existing eQSP. The eQSP ist may be found on the EV page.
  2. Complete an online application obtain a pre-approval so funds can be allocated for your project. You will need your SRP account number to complete the application. If you have questions, contact us at (602) 236-3065 or etechrebates@srpnet.com.
  3. Complete the assessment with at least the assessment minimum criteria:
    • Total cost of ownership models for the current and proposed electrification solution(s)
    • Simple payback calculations
    • Estimated emissions impact of the proposed electrification solution(s)
    • Estimated SRP incentives the customer may be eligible for
    • Additional funding information the customer may be eligible for. This includes VW funding, DERA, VALE, or other federal or state funding sources that may be applicable.
  4. Provide the Assessment study to the Program and receive half of the total incentive.
  5. To receive the other half of the incentive, purchase, install and energize the new, eligible equipment.
  6. Complete your application at the SRP Rebate Center to complete the process. You will need to have your SRP account number and associated email address you used to apply for pre-approval.
  7. Follow the steps online to submit your rebate application. Include a dated copy of your sales receipt or invoice with the EV charger or vehicle model number, purchase date and serial number with your application.
  8. Obtain SRP verification of installation (if requested).
  9. Upon approval, receive your rebate check!
